My Story
Like many people I went to college not knowing what my passion was. I changed majors and schools multiple times, before graduating and ending up in the insurance industry. I spent over a decade working in customer service, claims adjustment, in the legal department… I was good at my job but beginning to feel stifled. I enjoyed helping people and was always willing to take on the complicated and difficult cases my coworkers avoided, however I felt disillusioned working in an industry that didn’t put people’s needs first. And I hated dealing with piles and piles of paperwork everyday. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew it wasn’t this.
With the birth of my first child everything changed. I went from working in insurance to being a full-time mom. My life now centered around my two children. Being a mom was and is the most rewarding and joyful experience. However, it was also at times emotionally draining and heartbreaking. From the time he was little, my son battled various medical issues that would often keep him home from school an entire week every month. My husband often traveled for work and usually came home late when he wasn’t on a business trip. This left me to be the primary support system for my children as my son dealt with bullies and my daughter struggled with depression. I spent hours every day advocating for my children, researching medical conditions, and finding doctors and therapists. While I was their support, I also drew strength and inspiration from my children who continued to succeed despite the challenges they faced.
As it is for many people, life didn’t get much easier. I woke up most days feeling exhausted, frustrated, and struggling to find the strength to keep going on. Then one day I saw one of the posters designed to help people spot the signs of an abusive relationship. At first I just glanced at the poster, but then I stopped and read the questions. I found myself saying ‘yes’ to almost everyone as I stood there stunned, and everything began to make sense. I took the step of separating from my husband. Then, as I began going through the difficult process of divorce, my dad got sick. I now not only had sole physical custody of my children, but had become my parents’ caretaker as well. I tried to be strong for my children while healing my own emotional trauma. I read self-help books, sought out therapy and attended a 180-support group. The process was slow, and took years, but I began to heal.
After my mom passed and my children went away to college, it hit that for the first time in many, many years I was alone. That’s when I decided this was my time: to follow my dreams. This was my chance to focus on my career and my passion: helping others. I knew if I had a life coach as I was dealing with the difficult times I had faced in my life, my journey would have been easier and I would have been living a life of joy and empowerment so much sooner. I realized my passion was to help others live a life they love.
I enrolled in the Life Mastery Institute to become a Dreambuilder Life Coach as well as began studying under Christy Whitman. As I learned from Christy Whitman, who has been teaching evocative coaching skills and the Law of Attraction for over twenty years, I began to apply what I learned to my own life. I was amazed by the transformation I witnessed in myself. This is when it truly hit home for me just how much a life coach would have impacted my life as I went through the challenges and tough times in my past. I am grateful to be able to help others as a certified life coach.
Today I’m thrilled. I wake up in gratitude. I’m happy to say I’m living my dream. I get to do what I love, helping others live much happier lives, a life they love living. I am also thrilled and proud that my children have turned out to be happy and successful adults. This is my life, my story. I look forward to hearing your story and helping you live your amazing life too.
